Slow down on back roads almost a serious accident on Dakota road Wednesday, January 27, 2021
Forestry roads are Narrow. Could have been a serious accident on Dakota ridge road. A white Jeep SUV who was driving way to fast on a ice covered road. This guy almost hit the Grader and a logging truck. He ended up over the bank upside down. This guy had no chains on but even with chains on slow down. The logging company has been doing a great job of grading and plowing the road. 30 km is fast enough. Can you stop and get going again. Yes you might be able to make it up and down with out chains. But what if you have to stop for oncoming traffic. Can you get going again. Or can you hit the brakes with out slidding. No rush to get up the hill or back down. Respect others. The pick up in the ditch is nine years ago. I had studded winter tires. A van stopped in middle of road I could not stop. I tried to go around him and ended up in ditch. The Van was stopped right in middle of road. If I had hit him it would have been my fault says ICBC Stay safe.

Tetrahedron road. Current Conditions Saturday, January 16, 2021
Not much snow only last Km of road has snow on it deep frozen ruts. Rots around 1 ft deep. About 1/10 the amount of snow up there that we should have. Snow that is up there is hard frozen crusty. Not great for skiing frozen ice bridges across creeks etc might be risky. Stay safe. There is a boat on side of road about 1 km up road. $100 reward for name of owner and address where to send it to.

Dakota ridge great day up there today Current Conditions Friday, December 18, 2020
Fresh snow trees loaded with snow watch fir tree bombs. Grooming crews working hard to get things ready for weekend. I took up bunch of kindling for wood stove in the hut. Take up some newspaper not munch there. Nice to have woodstove going when kids sledding. I like to take a large pot to make hot chocolate or boil some weiners for hot dogs. The road is rough but not bad with all wheel drive and good winter tires. Slow down when meeting other cars. Roads is narrow. Good to have tow strap shovles full tank of fuel etc. Thanks Dave for great site you are the best.

Dakota Ridge open for the season Current Conditions Thursday, December 17, 2020
Great grooming of trails crews have been working hard. Road plowed but some compact ice sections. Having and using chains a good idea. Most Tow trucks won’t go up there. BCAA. Does not cover you up there. Chains shovels and a tow strap is good idea. Never go up with out a full tank of fuel. I have pulled many people out that ran out of gas. Driving off road burns fuel much faster. And if road gets blocked for overnight you need to run engine for heat etc. Be prepared. Shit can happen.
Great place to cross country skie snow shoe and have kids toboggan etc. Stay Safe be prepared for anything.

Tet road. Logging is happening up mt Richardson Current Conditions Saturday, December 05, 2020
So watch for trucks and heavy equipment. Drive with headlights on to be seen. Some off hwy dump trucks will be hauling out of pit around 7km mark. Snow is melting slowly then freezing. Only around 1ft of snow parking lot. Unfortunately people have been driving in same ruts so low clearance vehicles won’t make it up. Watch for new cross ditches and water bars upto 4 km mark. Only around 2 ft of snow up higher in the park.

I drove up to Dakota and Tet today Current Conditions Sunday, November 22, 2020
Big melt on. And freeze. The roads are deep rutted and hard to drive on. Dakota had more snow then then Tet. From 9 km up on Dakota snow hard to drive to bridge. I gave up
Tet road only has snow on last km. Around 1ft deep ruts. Was scraping cross members up. They have down road work up to 3.5 km new water bars. They have spread new gravel in many places up to around 7km mark. Hard to get out of the ruts. To bad people had not spread there tracks out. Will be hard to keep Tet rd open with more Snow. Chains 4x4 and spread tracks out carry shovels you might need to dig a place to pass another car. Or safe place to park. Stay safe.
